Pre-K & Early Literacy Programs
Early Literacy Program
The Hellgate Elementary Early Literacy Program (ELP) is a free, full-time, classroom-based program offered during the regular school year. The ELP provides targeted early literacy and math interventions for children who demonstrate a need for additional support in these foundational skills, as identified through a comprehensive screening process. Because early literacy skills aren’t developed in isolation, math instruction is integrated to support well-rounded early learning and cognitive development.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Children who will be 4 years old by September 10th.
Program Schedule:
The Early Literacy Program operates during the regular school year.
Screening Process:
To determine eligibility for the Early Literacy Program, children will participate in a screening process using the Get Ready to Read! Revised screening tool. This assessment is designed for children aged 3-5 and evaluates key early literacy skills, including:
- Print knowledge,
- Linguistic awareness, and
- Emergent writing skills.
After the screening, families will be informed of their child’s results and whether they qualify for the program.
ELP follows the calendar listed below.
